How Wave C built its own network alongside the existing operators on Corda Campus — and grew into the campus's own fiber provider.
The Challenge
As Corda Campus in Hasselt grew into a hub for tech and scale-up companies, the major telecom operators failed to build adequate fiber infrastructure there — Corda Campus was left behind. Companies that set up there were stuck with the network operators already active on site, whose services were often either not performant enough or simply out of budget for many scale-ups.
The Solution
Out of that gap, Wave C was born in 2018 (then still operating as Erbacom): its own, independent fiber infrastructure, built alongside the existing networks of the other network operators on Corda Campus — not to replace them, but as an extra, flexible option. Companies on campus got the choice to connect to a high-performance, standalone network run by a player that moves fast. Because the network was 100% owned by Wave C, it could offer services that simply weren't possible on other operators' networks, or were priced far out of reach for many businesses.
The Result
Corda Campus saw its appeal as a location for tech and scale-up companies rise, without anything changing in how the campus itself is managed — Wave C handles activation, billing and support directly with every tenant. Today, Corda Campus in Hasselt is Wave C's home base, home to dozens of connected companies on a network that exists precisely because the big players chose to look the other way.
